Your hosts

Your hosts are Marj and Bruce who arrived in France in mid 2019 from Scotland to start a new life. We had worked in different fields for twenty plus years and wanted to do something together, after an extended holiday in 2018 to France we fell in love with the area and drove home having bought our place! We hope our guests in France will fall in love with the picturesque villages, food, wines and weather as we did. We look forward to welcoming you to France too.

Why La Renarderie Basse?
We are keen cyclists and love good walks with our two dachshunds. On viewing the property, we discovered the Charente cycle route 54 is at the end of the road and the green way (VTT) is twenty meters from our door which sealed the deal. We love the warm, sunny climate and as the Poitou-Charente has the second sunniest region in France it's perfect. The area is simply breathtaking with its beautiful rolling fields of sunflowers in July and August and vineyards, historic towns, villages, castles with exceptional food and drink. It is the center of the wine, cognac and the pineau world, again, perfect!. Our property gives us the peace, tranquility and space for an idyllic lifestyle in its rural setting but only 2 km or a 20 minute walk from Ronsenac with its bar/restaurant, play park area and Fountaine de Legionnaires, also 2 km from the Chateau village of Villebois Lavalette with its weekly market under the medieval halle, yet providing all the amenities needed with a large supermarket, shops, restaurants, vet and pharmacy. 

Maison des Renards is separate and independent from our house which allows everyone to enjoy the peace and privacy of the location, but being next door, guests can relax with the knowledge that we are on hand should we be needed.
